Food policy
Robert and Janet Whittington have a background in food science. Janet is a nutritional therapist and has a diploma from the Institute of Optimal Nutrition. Robert has a BSc degree in Applied Zoology. Both Robert and Janet have been in vegetarian catering for 27 years. Our professional chefs all have an interest in nutrition and pure food.
We strongly believe that what we eat has a direct effect on our daily responses, our wellbeing and our long term health. A well balanced diet is essential. Our freshly prepared meals are not only nutritionally designed to provide this but are also presented to deliver a feast for the eyes and the mind.
Lancrigg’s position in the centre of the Lake District has many benefits. However, a downside is that we have not found it possible to maintain a 100% supply of organic products. However, we do still have a strong emphasis on using many organic and locally produced ingredients. Our aim is to provide a menu that is fresh, colourful, imaginative, zestful, nutritious and delicious, to leave you feeling satisfied, uplifted, rejuvenated and inspired.
